Easter baskets are such a fun tradition for kids. And while plastic eggs and Peeps are nostalgic, I tend to lean a little more purposeful — and a little more Christ-centered.

That doesn’t mean they have to be elaborate to be meaningful. Over the years, I’ve tried to keep ours simple and intentional—focusing less on excess and more on items that are functional, beautiful, and ultimately point to the hope we have in the resurrection of Christ.

Below you’ll find some of my favorite Easter basket ideas for babies, toddlers, and older kids—along with a very sweet Peter Rabbit–inspired basket for a playful, springtime literary take on the holiday.

How To Build An Easter Basket

Sometimes it helps to have a little “formula” to give direction — and to keep things from getting out of hand. And if you have multiple kids, this simple framework also helps keep things feeling “fair”… which our children are always quick to point out. 😉

Here’s the general rhythm I follow:

  • A Christ-centered book

  • Something creative

  • An item to play with

  • Something functional to wear or use

  • Optional: a small treat (or two)

This keeps our baskets intentional without feeling excessive — and ensures there’s a meaningful anchor alongside the fun.

You’ll notice I’ve included more than one option in each category below. These are meant to give you flexibility and inspiration — not to suggest that every basket should include everything shown.
